The principal objective of Ancient Voices Forums is to fulfill the mandate of the Traditional Circle of Indian Elders and Youth: help the larger society hear the voice of wisdom of the Elders.

The essential messages emanating from that wisdom include:

  • The current environmental crisis is, in fact, a spiritual crisis, stemming from our forgetfulness of who we are, and from our disconnection from the sacred quality of the earth.
  • The uncertainties brought by global climate change reinforce the reality that a spiritual connection is the path to survival of humankind.
  • Times are urgent. The earth is hungry for our prayers. More runners and messengers for the earth are needed to help ensure that we live up to our responsibilities to creation, each other, and generations yet to come.

It is asked that you think about these messages, explore them, and seek to be proactive about them in all aspects of your life.

Ancient Voices - Contemporary Contexts Forums are sponsored by the American Indian Institute and guided by the Traditional Circle of Indian Elders and Youth. Each Forum features traditional Indigenous leaders as keynote speakers and discussion leaders. The objective is cross-cultural in nature; indigenous peoples of the world have an important message for the rest of humankind about the damage being done to Earth and the need for an immediate course change to ensure survival.
